EKITI STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY ORGANIZES TWO DAY TRAINING FOR ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS TO ENHANCE DUE DILIGENCE, WORK EFFICIENCY

The Ekiti State House of Assembly has held a two-day capacity-building training for newly appointed administrative officers and officers in administrative cadre within the Legislative Service, as part of efforts to strengthen professionalism, efficiency and effective service delivery in the House of Assembly and Commission.

The training took place on Tuesday and Wednesday August 11 and 12 at the Red Seats Hall of the Ekiti State House of Assembly and brought together officers across relevant administrative cadres for an intensive learning and professional development programme.

Declaring the training open, the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, charged the participants to take the programme seriously and ensure that they remain at their best in the discharge of their official responsibilities.
The Speaker stressed the importance of continuous capacity development in the Legislative Service, noting that well-trained and professionally equipped personnel are essential to the effective service delivery.
Aribasoye reiterated his commitment to regular training and retraining of staff of the House of Assembly, describing capacity building as a key component of improving institutional performance and ensuring that officers are adequately prepared to meet the evolving demands of public service.
In his welcome remarks, the Chairman of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon. Kayode Fasakin, highlighted the benefits inherent in the two-day training.
Hon. Fasakin noted that the programme would provide participants with valuable knowledge and practical insights capable of improving their understanding of administrative procedures, strengthening professional competence and enhancing efficiency in the Legislative Service.

He encouraged the trainees to participate actively in the sessions, interact with the resource persons and make the most of the opportunity provided for their professional development.
Other stakeholders at the programme also underscored the importance of continuous training in building a responsive and effective public service.
Mrs. Fola Richie Adeusi, in her contribution, emphasized the need for regular training of personnel, stressing that continuous professional development is essential for effective service delivery and improved institutional performance.
She noted that officers must remain abreast of contemporary administrative practices and develop the competence required to respond effectively to the responsibilities entrusted to them.

The clerk of the House, Barrister Opeyemi Ajibola described capacity building as crucial towards repositioning government institutions, hence the need for the training program to enhance the knowledge of administrative officers in view of their strategic roles in Legislative service.
Barrister Ajibola commended the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly for conceiving, endorsing and supporting the training programs for staff of divergent cadres.

The Director in charge of Training at the House of Assembly urged the participants to make effective use of the knowledge and skills acquired during the programme and translate them into improved performance in their respective areas of responsibility.
The resource persons for the training, Mr. Bayo Opeyemi and Dr. Adeniyi Adekunle while speaking to newsmen gave an  insights into the objectives and expected outcomes of the programme.

They explained the practical benefits of the training and highlighted the knowledge, skills and professional values participants were expected to acquire by the end of the two-day programme.
The facilitators also encouraged the officers to approach the sessions with open minds, active participation and a commitment to applying the lessons learned to their day-to-day official duties.

Participants at the training expressed appreciation for the initiative, commending the vision and commitment of the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji towards capacity building and the development of a more efficient workforce across the state.
They also acknowledged the support of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, for prioritising staff development within the House of Assembly and creating an environment conducive to professional growth.
According to the participants, continuous investment in human capital would not only enhance the competence of individual officers but also contribute significantly to improving the efficiency, effectiveness and overall quality of service delivery within the Legislative Service.
The two-day programme was aimed at further equipping the newly appointed administrative officers and officers in administrative cadre with the requisite knowledge and professional skills to effectively carry out their responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to the operations of the Ekiti State House of Assembly.
The training was seen as another step towards strengthening the institutional capacity of the Assembly and building a more competent, efficient and service-oriented Legislative Service in line with the broader human-capital development agenda of the Ekiti State Government.
