CORRECTIONAL CENTER INMATES IN EKITI BENEFIT FROM SADAQOTUN JAARIYAH FOUNDATION'S MEDICAL OUTREACH

Several inmates at the  Correctional Center in Ado Ekiti have benefitted from a day medical outreach initiated by a non-governmental organization known as Sadaqotun Jaariyah Foundation.

Medical experts led by Dr Abdul -waheed Babalola from the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital attended to the inmates one after the other through medical test and administration of appropriate medication based on inmates complaints and doctor's observations.
According to Dr Babalola, most of the inmates had issues of body rashes and itching due to poor conditions of their accommodation within the facility while the blood sugar level and blood pressure were relatively low .

The medical team leader who said there was no critical case among the inmates said the medication administered were mostly anti-biotics and  anti-malaria while few of them got  anti-hypertensive drugs to help them check their blood pressure.

While commending  the efforts of the Christian and Muslim religious chaplains at admonishing the inmates on how to become better citizens, he said the state of health of the inmates reflected their sound mental health.

The Founder and Director of Sadaqotun Jaariyah Foundation which is an Islamic oriented organization, Mr Musa Abdul-Hammed said over two hundred of the inmates benefitted from the medical outreach saying it was a voluntary gesture through funds generated via voluntary donations aimed at improving the health status of the inmates irrespective of their religions.
He said the medical outreach was in furtherance of the group's humanitarian efforts towards making lives more bearable for the down trodden.

The Ekiti State coordinator of Sadaqotun Jaariyah Foundation, Mr Jeleel Hammed was full of appreciation for considering Ekiti State as the destination for the medical outreach.
Mr Hammed noted that the Foundation had in the past carried out series of projects at the Correctional Center including sinking of borehole to alleviate the suffering of the inmates.

The Muslim chaplain, Dr  Badrudeen Balogun described the medical outreach as unprecedented saying no individual nor group has ever carried out such a large scale exercise at the facility.
He urged groups, individuals and government to  regularly initiate different people oriented programs for inmates of the Correctional Center in a bid to give them hope and restore their trust in God.
Aside medication and test , Sadaqotun Jaariyah also gave out food to the inmates who were full of gratitude for the heart of kindness from the Muslim organization.
