Ekiti Football Referees Council Gets New Executive As Oguntuase Emerges Chairman, Adegoke Emerges Secretary


A new set of executive has emerged for the Ekiti State Football Referees Council.

At the election/ congress held Friday March 24 at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado Ekiti, the rancour-free election produced Mr Adeshina Oguntuase who until the election held the position of the First Vice Chairman as the new Chaiman.

At the congress presided by an electoral officer, Mr Benjamin Oyedare who represented the National Football Referees Association, Mr Oguntuase and other members of the new executive were elected unopposed.

Other elected members included  Mr Onilearo Kayode as the Deputy Chairman, Mr Samuel Isaac as Vice Chairman 1 while Mr Adegoke Olusola emerged as the General secretary.

Others are Financial secretary, Comrade  Onilearo Gbenga , State Training officer, Mr Omotoye Toyese and Publicity Secretary, Adebawore Adesoji.

In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman, Ekiti State Football Referees Council, Mr Adesina Oguntuase promised to justify the confidence reposed in him by members.

While acknowledging the efforts of the state governor, Biodun Oyebanji at providing an enabling environment for sports to thrive, Oguntuase sought the support of all members to succeed in the task ahead.

The new Football Referees boss also  thanked the General Manager of the Ekiti State Sports Council, Mr Kunle Adeyemi and  all members of staff for their unalloyed support.

He noted that the congress would not have been possible without the support of the Otunba Tade Azeez led Nigeria Referees Association (NRA)

Oguntuase who urged all members to be united noted that elections should be seen as sports where everyone remain united despite it's outcome.

He promised to run an all inclusive administration adding that his vision was to take her Football Referees Council to a lofty height where goverment and all relevant authorities would accord members and the Council their deserved respect..

The newly elected chairman also vowed to synergize with all executive members to increase the numerical strength of the Council even as efforts would be made towards strengthening the bond of unity among the elders and active Referees.

Oguntuase hinted at his readiness to collaborate with the State Football Association, NRA and the NFF.

While assuring all members of a transparent and accountable administration, Mr Oguntuase urged them to forge ahead and forget the past.

He called for unity of purpose among all members and also assured a smooth working relationship with relevant Associations like the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN, Ekiti State chapter.

The congress was witnessed by a representatives of the Sports Council and SWAN as well as Officers in Charge of Sports from the Police , Nigeria Peace Corps among others.

Also in attendance were the immediate past chairman of the Referees Council, chief A. Y. O Ariyo, member of the Referees Elders Forum and former chairman  Mr Tanwa Oyebode.

The new executive of the Ekiti State Football Referees Council will serve for a period of 4 years (2023-2027)
