Ekiti Muslim Clerics Advocate Creation of Welfare Boards for Faith Groups
Muslim clerics in Ekiti State have called on the government to establish dedicated welfare boards for adherents of both Islam and Christianity, stressing that such institutions would promote fairness, ease engagement with faith-based groups and enhance religious harmony in the state. The appeal was made at the general meeting of the League of Imams and Alfas, Ekiti State chapter, held on Thursday at the Central Mosque, Oja Oba, Ado-Ekiti. The gathering, presided over by the President-General of the League of Imams and Alfas for the Southwest, Edo and Delta States, Fadheelat Sheikh Dr. Jamiu Keulere Bello, drew chief imams and clerics from all 16 local government areas of the state. At the meeting, a three-year transition was formalised as new executive members were selected from across the councils and different Islamic sects to steer the association’s affairs.
