SWAN Names Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele As Best Sports Passionate Southwest National Lawmaker

The Sports Writers Association of
Nigeria (SWAN), is set to honour Senate Leader, Michael Opeyemi Bamidele with the National Distinguished Service Award.

In letter to the Senate Leader, signed by the SWAN President, Isaiah Benjamin and the Secretary-General Amb.Nkena Okonkwo, the body of Sports journalists attributes the honour bestowed  on the Senator to his 
outstanding contributions to sports development and youth empowerment across Ekiti State especially in his Senatorial District.

Senator Bamidele's  visionary leadership and consistent sports interventions in Ekiti Central
Senatorial District stand you out as a beacon of hope and a  shining light to other political office holders.

The Association acknowledges and appreciates your investment in Sports through one the biggest youth soccer tournaments christened "MOB
Unity Cup", 
the construction of  stadia in each of the towns in his Senatorial District, 
sponsorship of coaches to the National Institute for Sports for professional development.

SWAN particularly notes the Senator's sponsorship of Ekiti-born athlete Bamidele Ajayi on scholarship to the United States, donation of motorized wheelchairs to persons with disabilities in sports, as well as the enduring support for SWAN programmes in Ekiti State.

SWAN hereby acknowledges and appreciates all that he does towards a more virile, peaceful and productive society through different 
empowerment initiatives that have provided livelihoods for thousands of
youths across Ekiti Central Senatorial district and beyond.

The Distinguished service award will be conferred on you at the SWAN 60th Diamond Jubilee Celebration/Awards, Compendium Launch and Investiture on  October 31, 2025 at the VIP Hall, Padage A, Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja.

The Independent Shari’ah Arbitration Panel in Ekiti State held its inaugural public sitting in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital on Thursday adjudicating on two marriage-related disputes. The panel, presided over by three Kadhis Imam Abdullahi Abdul-Mutolib, Imam Abdulraheem Junaid-Bamigbola, and Dr. Ibrahim Aminullahi-Ogunrinde is aimed at providing arbitration based on Islamic jurisprudence. In the first case, the head of the panel, Imam Abdullahi Abdul-Mutolib, announced that the dispute between the couple was resolved through a consent judgment. The resolution was facilitated by earlier interventions from family members, which paved the way for a peaceful settlement. However, the second case where  the wife accused her husband of neglecting his marital responsibilities was adjourned until January 30 for further hearing after listening to both parties. Ekiti State Muslim Media Practitioners Begin Courtesy Visits To Media Houses, Call For Adherence To Best Ethical Practices, Accurate Reportage of Events Concerning Muslims, Islam

The Chairman, Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) Ekiti State chapter, Alhaji Yusuf Akeusola and members of the Association have begun courtesy visits to media organizations in the State. The MMPN Executives on Monday began with a visit to Fresh FM and Voice FM  both in Ado Ekiti where they were well received. The General Manager of Fresh FM, Mr Jide Ogunluyi was on ground to recieve the MMPN team while the Accountant recieved them on half of the Voice FM General Manager,  Management and staff. At the two private radio stations, MMPN chairman, Ekiti State highlighted the purpose of the visit with a special focus on the misrepresentation in  some sections of the media on issues related to the Ekiti Sharia Arbitration Panel.
