Stage Set For Grand Finale of Cyril John Basketball Championship, As Higher Institutions, Academies Jostle For Male / Female Titles


After about 3 days of massive engagement at the Ekiti Kete Pavilion in Ado Ekiti, basketball players from various Higher Institutions and Basketball Academies across Ekiti State have had a fun filled and energy sapping time.

The tournament which started with 18 teams in both male and female categories started on Friday and ends today Sunday 15th September at same venue.

One of the Sunday's semi final matches  will feature We Are One Basketball Academy and Possibility Academy while the second semi final match will involve Fountain Basketball Team and D Crushers Basketball Team.

Organizers say the top teams in the female category shall  be based on results of round robin matches played earlier while the two teams that will play in the Boys final will emerge after today's semi finals.

There will also be exhibition matches involving the female basketball players and under 12 players prior to the grand finale.

Some of the teams that participated in the tournament were Fountain Basketball Team,
We Are One Basketball Academy,  
Invaders Basketball Team,
Possibility Basketball Academy,
Pacers Basketball Academy as well as D Crushers (EKSU)
FPA Wolves (Federal Polytechnic, Ado ) and 
D unique Ballers (Bouesti)

The championship which is powered by a young basketball player and enthusiast named Cyril John from Osin-Ekiti in Oye Local Government area was aimed at sharpening the skills and exposing the basketball players across the State.

The Cyril John Basketball Championship also hopes to explore the recently installed upright which was purchased for players in the State by governor Biodun Oyebanji.

The tournament which was free for all participants enjoyed the blessing of the Sports Development office, Governor's office while the State Basketball Head Coach, Tayo Awojurin has also been duly scouting future Basketball talents for the State.

BAO Breaks Football Jinx As Ekiti Team Hosts First Ever Premier League Match, First Ever Private Stadium Opens

Gov.Oyebanji Approves Technical Crew For Ekiti United , Ekiti Queens Football Clubs

The new Technical Crews for the two State owned football clubs in Ekiti State,Ekiti United FC and Ekiti Queens FC have been approved by the Ekiti State governor, His Excellency, Biodun Oyebanji. A statement issued by the office of the Technical Advisor on Sports Development, Dr Olusola Osetoba says the new Head Coach for Ekiti United FC is Akin Olowookere  while Candy Jacob is the Head Coach for Ekiti Queens FC.
