Again Ekiti United Adopts Ilorin Stadium As Home Ground As NNL Thumbs Down Oluyemi Kayode Stadium Pitch ......Reacts To NNL Verdict On Rovers Match
The Ilorin Stadium will tomorrow (Monday) host the NNL week 17 encounter between Ekiti United and Dakkada FC.
The match will be first of the League matches involving Ekiti United that will be played at the Ilorin Stadium being it's adopted home ground following the refusal of the NNL to approve the usage of the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado Ekiti due to what it termed poor pitch.
Ahead of the match, Ekiti United players and officials left Ado on Sunday and landed in Ilorin same day with determination to grab maximum points at their adopted home ground.
Meanwhile, Ekiti United have said the needful were done officially by the Management following the unfortunate inconclusive match against Rovers FC in Calabar was decided last week.
Ekiti United management in its petition letter explained to the NNL how the match was marred by fans invasion and physical attack on the goalkeeper of the team thereby putting the lives of the entire team in danger as there were no security men at the stadium in Calabar before and during the match.
Ekiti United had requested the NNL to grant the team 3 maximum points and 3 goals at the expense of Rovers FC due to the failure of the Calabar based team to provide security nor check the excesses of its players and fans thereby leading to avoidable tension and danger.
Ekiti United also requested that Rovers management should take responsibility for the medical treatment of the injured goalkeeper of the team.
The club however expressed rude shock at the verdict of the NNL which ordered the completion of the match at a yet to be decided neutral venue on a later date.
According to the statement issued by the NNL in it's verdict recently, the League governing body placed a One million Naira fine on Rovers FC for failing to provide security at the stadium and also slammed Five Hundred Thousand Naira fine on Ekiti United for failing to conclude the match after 8 minute of the second half.
The NNL stated that the remaining 37 minutes of the match shall be played at a neutral venue which is yet to be named while the date has also not been announced.
